Appearance is your first message

Did you know that, in general, perception and cognition of the reality around us proceeds in two stages?

Reception is related to sensory experience, and perception is related to the mind's reinterpretation of these sensations. Our brain is designed in such a way that the primary carrier of information from the environment for it is the image, and consequently, sight is considered as the most essential human sense. Visual information is received by us even unconsciously. That is why visual messages play such a huge role - also in business, and more specifically in branding.

Re Ben Gesta – we look and see more broadly

We are in the business of creating comprehensive branding, the image of your company. We create logos, graphics, infographics, banners, business card designs, roll-ups and a range of digital products, with websites and online stores at the forefront. Our concepts are created according to a coherent vision, making up a unique visual identity. All this is done to make your company a brand – gaining that all-important visibility and identity.

Why is graphic design so important?

Graphic design is one of the most important elements of branding. All kinds of identification elements – logos, business cards, flyers, folders or letterheads are in most cases the first contact the recipient has with the company. Therefore, it is worth taking care to stand out from the competition and create designs that will intrigue and most importantly – prompt interaction. To achieve this, it is necessary to use the services of professionals. A person who is perfectly comfortable with issues related to visual identity, understands psychology and is able to offer something unique.

The basic elements of branding, such as logos, business cards, flyers, roll-ups, banners, folders or websites should be designed according to the most important principles of corporate identity, be consistent with each other and represent one concept. It sometimes happens that graphic elements are not connected with each other – business cards are made in a different concept than flyers or folders.

The most important principles of graphic design, or what we follow

In order to get the full benefit of creating a unique brand image, we rely on the basic principles that guide our work. They allow us to highlight the characteristics of the brand and make it stand out from the competition. It really works!

Color as a base for further action

Our first association with a brand is always color. It is on color that we largely base our perception of the world. The human eye can see up to 10 million different colors – from shades of red to purple. The presence of colors makes it much easier for us to navigate the world. Take the red color of a warning sign as an example. It informs us of lurking danger if we decide, for example, to cross the street at that moment or turn at an intersection with a car. Our safety is thus determined on the basis of subconscious color perception. This is the reason why the choice of color for corporate identity is so important. Depending on which one we choose, we will create all sorts of networks of associations in the minds of the public.

We will now give you a very simple example of a certain system of associations. Imagine the following situation. The Don Corleone family is getting ready to go to a ball. The senior of the family approaches the door, dressed in a black, elegant tuxedo, strokes the hand of a woman, dressed in silk, refined robes, resting on his forearm. The smell of barely dimmed cigars and heavy perfume wafts around. The major of the house pulls the door handle with his usual grace and escorts the couple to a green Mercedes. He accompanies them with his eyes for another moment.

Does everything fit in the above story? Is there any detail that disturbed your perception? We think there is. And that you already know very well what we mean when we talk about the role of colors in building associations.

Lines, shapes, typography….

Apart from colors, these are the most important building blocks of any graphic design project. Relying on them, we are able to create a lot – from very simple icons to complex illustrations. Already connecting two dots allows us to get a line. It can also consist of more points, which could be compared to atoms forming molecules, which in turn make up all the objects around them. Further, if we add another point, we get a shape – a triangle. In this way, step by step, we can expand our graphics.

Typography is, in the simplest terms, the form of communication of what we create. It consists of a font, thanks to which we can create something original and unique from a simple inscription. Most fonts are designed with a specific purpose in mind. Some of them are perfect for large blocks of text. The rest, in turn, as titles.

…scale, space, grid and alignment, and visual concept

Scale will help you create contrast and balance within the design and keep a proper balance between them. As a general rule, not all elements in a project should have the same importance. Establishing the right hierarchy is one of the most important things for any graphic design project. We need to set some element as the central one and build the whole branding strategy based on it.

An important element at the design stage is to leave space in the design. The way it is presented has a very big impact on the design. We need to maintain the right proportions, so that this, for example, our logo is not overwhelmed by an oversized sign.

Using a grid allows us to create our own unique design, making what we have created more pleasant to look at. At the same time, if we decide on an uncluttered design, we should have an idea of how to convey it in an interesting way.

Why should you cooperate with us?

FAQFrequently asked
questions

Is it permissible to change the logo, logotype or the entire corporate identity?

Yes. The process of changing the visual identity or an element of it falls under the concept of rebranding. Sometimes the entire visual strategy needs to be changed or refreshed, and there is nothing strange about this (as long as it does not happen too often). However, rebranding is a complex process that requires care and accuracy.

An interesting example of rebranding is the change in the graphic design of products and the appearance of buildings of the McDonalds chain. They used to be red and accompanied by a clown. Now they have gained an elegant chic and subdued color scheme. And one more thing – the chain refers to its outlets as “restaurants”. – this is also part of conscious branding.

What can you design for me?

In fact, everything. From logos to websites to audience impressions. We work comprehensively, which means we can handle almost anything that represents you and your business to your audience. We create brand strategies, visual identities, websites and other digital products.

Contact us and tell us what you need or what you want to achieve. Before you make any decision about cooperation – we will be happy to know your expectations and advise you as best we can.

On what basis do you create graphic designs?

Each graphic design project requires an individual approach, a lot of attention, time and work. All elements of the corporate identity should form a coherent whole, be unique, stand out in its industry, but also, in a way, fit into it. We also strive to ensure that each graphic design is clear and transparent, aesthetically pleasing and attractive to the viewer. We research, observe, ask, infer. Then we create.
