Google Ads – a powerful marketing tool in your hands
Google Ads is an advertising system that has been around since 2000. For its first eighteen years of operation, it was known as Google AdWords. In the most general terms, Google Ads allows you to display sponsored links on the most popular search engine and on sites that implement the Google AdSense program.
Two main types of sponsored link creation can be distinguished. The first involves the selection of keywords, and the second involves the selection of sites.
Wondering if many entities use this type of advertising on the Internet? Let the answer to this question direct you to a summary of Google’s brand profits, if only from 2010, when Google Ads revenue accounted for 97% of the company’s total profit.
The 8 main advantages of Google Ads:
The clear rules of Google Ads, make it easy to distinguish the main benefits that Google Ads will bring to your business. We present the most important of them:
- effectiveness of reaching an ad to a specific audience
- the possibility of local impact
- generation of traffic with high conversion
- speed of action – the first effects are noticeable even after a few days
- measurability of effects
- payment system and strategy (more on this below)
- possibility to reach YouTube or Gmail with the ad
- the possibility to recover the customer when he leaves the site (remarketing)
Advertising campaigns on the Google network
Two channels can be distinguished, the ad impression networks within Google Ads. The first is the search network, i.e. the possibility of displaying advertising on the first positions of the world’s most popular search engine – Google. Also included in this network is the display of advertising content in some Google services, such as Google Maps, or Google Shopping. Emission of ads also takes place at partners of the world powerhouse, whose search engines use the Google engine. These include, for example, Wirtualna Polska, Onet, Gumtree, and Interia.
The second network is the so-called advertising network, which allows the emission of ads in mobile applications and websites. The most common form of advertising in this case are graphic banners and, although relatively less frequently, video. What stands out here is the huge potential for the emission of advertising content through the email channel – a mailing campaign to users of Google mail, or Gmail.
Some separate as separate advertising channels Google Ads product campaigns and video campaigns. In the first case, we are still talking about search engine displays. In the second case – although it is indeed possible to speak of a separate channel, which is YouTube – the campaigns fit into the specifics of the ad network.
Google Ads – payments
The Google Ads payment system and rules are an undeniable advantage of the whole enterprise. Budget flexibility and clearly established campaign goals allow you to customize your Google Ads spending. Depending, for example, on your reach needs (and many other factors), you can determine the optimal amount for you. Importantly, in the case of Google Ads, we pay only for results!
We can distinguish 3 types of cost billing to choose from:
- per click (CPC)
- per display (CPM)
- per view (CPV)
CPC (Cost per Click) – or cost per click. There is no cost to the advertiser for just displaying the ad. So, if a given advertising content was displayed 200 times, but 10 people clicked on it – we will pay only for 10 generated clicks. It should be noted that the cost incurred per click varies, and it is the entrepreneur who decides the amount, defining the maximum rate he can pay. Importantly, in practice, this price may turn out to be much lower than initially declared. It depends, for example, on the result of the quality of the ad itself and on the competition (that is, other entities that enjoy the benefits of Google Ads for the same key phrase, for example).
CPM (Cost per Mile) – that is, cost per 1,000 visible displays. What kind of visible impressions are these? Those that, in the case of image ads, last no less than 1 second for at least 50% and, in the case of video ads, are continuously displayed for at least 2 seconds. In this model, we do not pay for clicks or for displays that are deemed invisible. Little. The cost incurred per display depends on the advertiser’s satisfaction with the results of the campaign.
CPV (Cost per View) – or cost per view. Here it is not the momentary display of the video ad that counts, but its playback in its entirety or for at least 30 seconds (if it lasts longer than half a minute).
Regardless of the billing method you choose, keep in mind that the total cost per ad campaign is decided by the advertiser, i.e. you!
At any time you have control over the expenses, you can pause and renew the campaign and modify its rates.
What does the success of a Google Ads campaign depend on?
The success of a Google Ads campaign depends on the developed goal of the campaign, its well-planned budget, monitoring of its progress and skillful drawing of conclusions. Very often, running a Google Ads campaign on your own turns out to be ineffective.
This is due to the lack of knowledge and experience of the entrepreneur-advertiser in this regard. Therefore, more and more often professionals who care about the substance of their own business, decide to use the help of an agency. They can then be sure that every penny they spend is working for their success.
